Weikai Sun
Weikai Sun received Master in Electrical engineering from Southeast University in China, and Ph.D in Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 1997. Since then, he has been founding member of EDA startup (Ultima, eventually acquired by Cadence), followed by 20+ years developing Semiconductor products with product focus ranging from power management IC, FPGA, x86 uProcessor, data center connectivity, and networking SoC, while the companies he worked for include early and mid-stage startups, as well as mid and large size public companies. Weikai has experienced all different kinds of startup exists, including M&A by industry leader, IPO, and of course fire sales. In his 7 years with DCI leader Inphi Inc, he built and grew the central engineering team, acquired and integrated 3 companies with diverse engineering background and discipline, pushing process technology adoption/ramp up faster than what TSMC and Moore’s Law, while achieving 90%+ 1st silicon success. Inphi was acquired by Marvell for $10B April’2021 and has been the best decision the new Marvell management made as the business is responsible for majority of Marvell’s growth since then. He returned to EDA industry where he served as VP engineering in Synopsys till end of 2024, where he was responsible to grow the analog design platform in Synopsys by running the product group as a startup inside well-established company, taking on the dominate player in the industry. With such diverse experience, Weikai is looking to help startups with strategy, product differentiations and market fit, and product development processes.
