Jim Eakin is a highly experienced IP attorney located in Menlo Park. He has several decades of experience in patent prosecution, formulating IP strategy, and IP litigation. While he has has in the past represented both Fortune 500 companies and start-ups as the founding partner of the Silicon Valley office of McDermott, Will & Emery, in 2005 he left behind the politics of big firms and now limits his practice to startups in which he has invested. Jim began angel investing in the 1980's and has had a number of successful exits. He derives significant personal satisfaction from mentoring the companies that he has invested in, and gives a considerable amount of time to this activity. Jim received his EE degree from UC Berkeley, and his JD from UCLA.
