Allen Chen

Vice President of Automotive at Monolithic Power Systems (NASDAQ: MPWR), an S&P 500 semiconductor company specializing in power and analog semiconductors. I’ve built and now lead a global automotive organization, developing high-performance solutions that enable many of today’s vehicle innovations such as digital cockpits, autonomous tech, electrification and software-defined vehicles. Some of my responsibilities include overseeing product, business development, and market strategy, and in my 8-year tenure we have transformed from an aspiring upstart to an established player. I’m incredibly proud to have had the privilege to assemble a team that punches well above our weight class, outperforming far-larger peers.

Prior to MPS, I spent a decade at Texas Instruments (TI), one of those peers. At TI I held a variety of technical and marketing roles, focused on Battery Management Solutions. Our tech enabled customers to precisely track the health and charge level of all things portable – from tablets and notebook PCs to grid storage battery banks and electric bikes.

My background is in analog chip design, which I did in my first few years at TI and another company, Freescale (now NXP). I’m originally from Southern California, and lived in several places – New York City, Austin, Dallas, Shanghai (as an expat for a brief stint) before Northern California called me back. I divide my time between San Francisco and Santa Rosa with my partner, Travis, and our two very sweet and often naughty whippets, Parker and Winston.

Early in my career, as a side hobby, I also served as the Editor-In-Chief of an Austin-centric blog called Austinist. It was part of a little empire of city websites called Gothamist. As EIC, I oversaw a motley crew of volunteer writers, photographers, videographers and the like.

Hobbies include … travel, exercise, reading, wine, scuba diving, tennis (somewhat poorly).
